Total Guaranteed Package: R 1 149,025 – R 1 544,600
Minimum Qualifications:
• B. Degree/ B (Tech) Civil Engineering
Professional Registration:
• Professional Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist
• Formal Qualification in Project Management / Management Development and Eligible to register as Professional Construction Project Manager with the S.A Council
for Project Management
Preferred Qualifications:
• BSc/B Eng in Civil Engineering
Training and Experience:
• Good communication and interpersonal relations skills
• 8 years experience in Civil engineering design, water industry
• Knowledge of Planning and Design
• Computer Literate – Excel spreadsheets, word processing, presentation packages
• In depth knowledge of the OHS Act
• Valid unendorsed code 08 driver’s license
Key Outputs:
Reporting to the Executive Manager: Planning & Development, the appointee will:
• Conceptualise approaches to designing water service infrastructure
• Design infrastructure according to recognised norms, standards and specifications
• Design tender documents, technical specifications and contract documentation for projects
• Provide clear terms of reference for consulting work
• Prepare and provide Amatola Water standard detail drawings
• Prepare and provide contract documentation and project specific requirements
• Liaise with contractors as a project leader
• Conduct briefing sessions
• Identify new infrastructure installations and acquisitions
• Identify infrastructure upgrade requirements
• Prepare annual budgets
• Monitor and control a CAPEX budget to a maximum of R45 million p.a.
• Provide technical leadership in the tendering process and award of contracts
• Identify factors to build a cohesive internally focused team to meet corporate and functional objectives
• Facilitate and actively pursue the personal development of subordinates
• Undertake the performance management function for subordinates
• Prepare personal development plans for subordinates
• Assess competencies of subordinates and implement appropriate training and development
