Minimum Qualifications:
- Engineering Diploma (Mechanical / Electrical) (NQF level 6)
- Government Certificate of Competency (GCC – Factories)
- Accredited Management Qualification or equivalent (NQF level 6)
Minimum Experience:
- At least five years Management experience in the operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment in a production environment
- Sound knowledge of asset management
- Sound knowledge of the OHS Act, Regulations and legal requirements pertaining to the general supervision of machinery
- Project Management experience
Key Outputs:
Reporting to the Senior Manager: Water Service Assets, the appointee will:
- Co-ordinate repairs and maintenance to all equipment, buildings and facilities by daily liaison with Maintenance Foreman to ensure optimum efficiency
- Liaise with contractors and service providers for specialised maintenance services
- Monitor the execution of specialised allocated work by visiting works, attending relevant site meetings and attending to problems
- Respond to specific requests for maintenance and prepare specifications for repairs by carrying out inspections, assessing responsibility and recommending action
- Manage refurbishment works
- Determine what specialised spares and equipment are necessary for stock purposes taking into account lead times and delivery times and ensuring such spares are ordered to minimise plant outage time
- Ensure all ordered spares are of the correct quality and quantity to minimise plant outage time
- Ensure all high-voltage work is performed by suitably trained and qualified Amatola Water staff and contractors to minimise accidents and incidents
- Ensure that all applicable regulations and safety rules of both the OHS Act and Amatola Water are obeyed and applied
- Implement policies, communicate information, regulations and decisions to foreman to minimise misunderstandings
- Ensure that Amatola Water Plant, buildings and equipment are always maintained in a cost-effective condition thereby guaranteeing optimum efficiency – technical and managerial input
- Management of the safety structure to maintain a safe working environment for all Amatola Water employees – managerial input
- Management and enforcement of all the statutory requirements of the OHS Act – managerial input
- Management and enforcement of the standards as stipulated in ISO45001:2018
- Submit monthly reports
- Participate in departmental meetings and annual strategy sessions
- Provide input into strategic planning for the area
Other Requirements:
- Computer literate
- Valid unendorsed drivers’ licence
- Good dam safety knowledge
- Extensive knowledge of all diverse engineering fields, i.e. civil, mechanical, electrical, radio & telemetry, air-conditioning, carpentry, planned maintenance and safety.
